Maintenance
Engineering
Refinery Engineering plays a major role in achieving Company business objectives by maximizing overall plant equipment productivity through improved maintenance techniques.
Ensures safe and uninterrupted Refinery operation at desired throughput within budget through concerted effort of Electrical, Instrument, Rotary, Stationary and Civil Engineering sections.
Following sections come under the domain of Maintenance Department
Rotating Equipment Section
Rotating Equipment Section or Rotary is responsible for reliability of all rotating equipments e.g. pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, diesel engines, mixers, mobile equipments, cranes, etc. In order to achieve and ensure the desired performance of machines, Rotary section employs well planned Preventive, Routine maintenance programs and latest techniques like ‘Condition Monitoring’ through state-of-the-art tools.
Rotary section has the in-house capability to develop specifications, installation and commissioning of Plant machinery.
Stationary Equipment Section
Stationary is responsible for maintenance, fabrication and major overhaul of Stationary equipments e.g. boilers, furnaces, heat exchangers, air coolers, pipelines, valves, vessels, reactors and towers. The section is equipped to undertake and execute major overhauls and repairs of Stationary equipments.
Electrical Section
Maintains all electrical equipment like HT and LT electric motors, transformers, switch gears, generators, VFD, UPS, fire alarm system, smoke detection system. It also carries out maintenance of lighting arrangement and air conditioning.
Civil Section
Maintains construction of roads, building, foundations, insulation, wrapping & coating of pipelines, painting, masonry works, refractory works, carpentry, plumbing, excavation, sandblasting, and scaffolding.
Planning
Responsible for detail planning and monitoring of turnarounds and small project through latest computer software. It is also responsible for the preparation and monitoring of operating and capital budget of maintenance department.
Construction
PRL has 61 Bulk Oil Steel Storage Tanks, with capacities upto 20,000 cubic meters. Construction of new Storage Tanks and repair and maintenance of existing Tanks lies in the domain of Construction Section. This section also takes up construction of offsite infrastructure such as Transport Pipelines as well as repair and maintenance of existing Crude Oil and Product Transport and Fire Fighting Piping System.
