Mr. Zahid Mir - Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Zahid Mir is working in Pakistan Refinery Limited, Karachi as Managing Director & CEO since 1st August 2019. He is a Petroleum Engineer, and an MBA. Mr. Mir has over 32 years of diverse Technical and Management experience working for both public & private sector companies in the oil and gas industry. He also has significant experience of both onshore and offshore operations having been involved, at a senior level, in all stages of upstream operations. He has a strong HSE background and has extensive experience in negotiating commercial & fiscal agreements, developing strategy, joint ventures & license management, new ventures, economic evaluations, mergers & acquisitions and dealing with the government regulators.
Mr. Mir also has experience of managing field operations including production operations, conceptual engineering and project development and execution. This experience has been gained through working with national and multi-national oil and gas producers both in Pakistan and United Kingdom. He has previously worked for Shell, Kufpec, Premier Oil and OGDCL. His last appointment was as MD/CEO of OGDCL.
Mr. Mir is a Director of Petroleum Institute of Pakistan (PIP).
Mr. Imran Ahmad Mirza - Deputy Managing Director (Finance & IT) / CFO
Mr. Imran Ahmad Mirza is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan with over 24 years of diversified experience. He had worked for M/s A. F. Ferguson & Co., chartered accountants (a member firm of PriceWaterhouseCoopers) in Audit & Business Assurance area. Before joining PRL he had worked for Pakistan State Oil Company Limited, PICIC, NIB Bank and IBL Group of companies in senior positions in Finance, Internal Audit and Corporate Secretarial.
Mr. Najam Mahmud - General Manager Human Resources
Mr. Najam Mahmud joined Pakistan Refinery Limited as “General Manager Human Resources” in April, 2014.
Najam completed his undergraduate and post graduate studies from the University of Kent, England, and later on Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Business School, England. He has served a diversified range of organizations in various capacities throughout his career spanning almost 20 years, which include Shell Pakistan, HSBC, Abbott Laboratories and Praesidium Management Consultants and IFFCO Pakistan (Private) where he served as Head of HR and Administration.
Mr. Shehrzad Aminullah - General Manager Contracts & Procurement / Company Secretary
Mr. Shehrzad Aminullah joined Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) in July 2008 as the Chief Internal Auditor and in April 2015, took over as General Manager Commercial. In August 2015, he was given additional responsibility of Company Secretary and also looked after the function of Corporate Counsel for six months. He is a Graduate of the London School of Economics and a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).
After completing his Training Contract with Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), Shehrzad started his career in Pakistan in 1999 with Imperial Chemical Industries (now Akzo Nobel). During his stint with the ICI Group of Companies, he worked in different positions in Internal Audit and Finance (both in ICI and its sister concern Pakistan PTA Limited). He was inter alia responsible for assisting the Chief Internal Auditor, periodic Reporting to Milbank, (the then Headquarters of ICI) and dealing with all Banks and looking after the Company's Provident, Gratuity and Pension Funds as Treasury Manager of Pakistan PTA Limited.
In 2004, he joined Pakistan International Airlines as the Chief Internal Auditor with whom he continued till June 2008. In his capacity as Chief Internal Auditor of the National Airline, he not only looked after the core Internal Audit function, but was also responsible for the Final Settlement Unit and liaison with the Ministry of Defence with regard to Government / Commercial Audit Observations and Public Accounts Committee Meetings.
He has been Accredited as a Certified Director by the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance.
Mr. Abdul Majid - General Manager Technical & Inspection.
Mr. Abdul Majid is a graduate Chemical Engineer from NED University of Engineering & Technology Karachi. He joined Pakistan Refinery in 1990 and has 32 year diverse experience of working in various organizations both nationally and internationally. Though Refinery Operations has been his main forte, yet his expertise includes refinery Process Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Plant Commissioning and Trouble Shooting.
In his current position as General Manager Operations, he is responsible for safe, smooth and economical Plant & Oil Movement operations. He has a pivotal role in maximizing Refinery Margins through optimization of product mix, product yields, fuel and energy consumption and through reduced plant down time. While leading Oil Movement Section, he ensures accomplishment of company goals and objectives by safe handling of crude oil import & naphtha export operations and by producing PSI compliant Petroleum Products and their subsequent safe, timely and hassle-free disposal to OMCs.
Moreover, Mr. Majid also leads Refinery Emergency Response Team and acts as Emergency Manager on-site in case of any Fire/Spillages/Vapor & Gas release and related emergencies. Company has also entrusted him with the responsibility of Vice President of PRL Sports Club to positively contribute towards Team Building, foster healthy environment and provide entertainment opportunities for the Employees and their families.
Mr. Om Perkash - General Manager Commercial.
Mr. Om Perkash is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan with experience of more than 18 years. He started his career with M/s A. F. Ferguson & Co., Chartered Accountants. He joined Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in 2006 and before moving to PRL he was working as Finance Business Partner of Marketing Functions of PSO. He got significant experience of digitalization of business process, oil accounting, feasibility studies of projects, oil pricing regulations and Pakistan’s supply chain of petroleum products.
Mr. Akbar Musharraf - Deputy General Manager Oil Movement & Terminals.
Mr. Akbar Musharraf, Deputy General Manager of Oil Movement & Terminals at Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), brings over 32 years of expertise in petroleum refining operations, health, safety, environmental management (HSE), and process safety. He oversees refinery tank farms, logistics, and terminal networks, managing a team of over 75 professionals to ensure operational excellence and drive advancements in storage, distribution, and blending technologies. A graduate of NED University with a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, he also holds an MBA in General Management from PAF-Karachi Institute of Engineering & Technology. Throughout his career, Akbar has implemented advanced safety systems, optimized oil movement processes, led HSEQ initiatives, and achieved ISO certifications. He has been instrumental in national marine oil spill exercises, strengthened regulatory compliance, and introduced impactful training programs. His enduring commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship continues to shape PRL’s success and its contributions to the energy sector.
Mr. Fawad Hussain - Deputy General Manager Operations.
Mr. Fawad Hussain, Deputy General Manager of Operations at Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), brings over 28 years of expertise in refinery process operations, project engineering, and commissioning. A graduate of NED University of Engineering & Technology in Chemical Engineering, he has led major projects, including the commissioning of the Isomerization Unit, UOP Modular Unit, and Advanced Process Control (APC) implementation. Fawad’s leadership extends to optimizing refinery performance, ensuring safety through HAZOP reviews, and driving compliance with international standards. His extensive project portfolio includes the revamp of the Platformer Unit, the implementation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant, and a cost-efficient desalination plant, achieving significant operational efficiencies and environmental milestones. With a deep understanding of process optimization, safety management, and economic evaluations, Fawad has been instrumental in enhancing PRL’s operational excellence while mentoring teams and fostering innovation in refinery processes.
Mr. Omar Siddiqui - Deputy General Manager Engineering.
Mr. Omar Siddiqui, a graduate Mechanical Engineer from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, has been with Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) since 1998, bringing 27 years of expertise in plant maintenance, turnaround management, and project execution. As Deputy General Manager of Engineering, he oversees daily engineering operations, develops and implements strategies to enhance maintenance functions, manages budgets, and ensures compliance with standards to optimize equipment reliability and availability. With a proven track record of managing numerous maintenance turnarounds, including equipment repairs, modifications, and replacements aligned with capacity enhancements, Omar’s strategic leadership and dedication to operational excellence continue to drive PRL’s engineering success.
